Trivia

Greenwood Cellars, Inc. was formed in 2004, creating Vinzena as its first brand.

The 2003 vintage Vinzena Oregon Pinot Noir is Greenwood Cellars' first release. This wine is produced and bottled by Willamette Valley Vineyards of Turner, Oregon.

Oregon's 2003 growing season was long and hot. Click here for a preview of the 2003 vintage by Cole Danehower.

The 2003 label features a Camas flower in metal foil. Camas is an idigenous plant species to the northwest and the root was a staple of the diet both of the native peoples and early settlers. Stories suggest that native peoples loosely cultivated the plant because of its importance to their way of life. Read more about Camassia quamash here.

Greenwood Vineyards is within sight of the last vestiges of Zena, one of the early Oregon settlement communities near Salem. The town's church was built in 1859 and its bell, which can still be heard on Sundays, came 'round Cape Horn on its journey to Oregon.

Greenwood Vineyard's Pinot Noir clones (Dijon 115 and Pommard) grow at 300 feet above sea level and the vineyard is sustainably managed.
